Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal information Chefzi collects through chefzi.ca and how we handle it. It covers our duties under Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, for Quebec, the Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25).

Who is responsible

chefzi.ca is operated by CHEFZI (SMC-PRIVATE) LIMITED, which is the organisation responsible for the personal information described here. The person in charge of protecting personal information is Arslan Munir, who can be reached at [email protected].

What we collect

  • Enquiry details. When you book a demo or contact us, we collect the name you give us, your restaurant’s name, your city, the email address or phone number you enter, and the ordering system you tell us you use now.
  • Technical data. Our hosting provider records the IP address, browser type and pages requested for each visit, in standard server logs used for security and to keep the site running.
  • Analytics data, only if you accept analytics cookies. See our cookie policy.

Why we use it

  • To reply to your enquiry and arrange a demo.
  • To set up and support your Chefzi account if you become a customer.
  • To keep the site secure and working.
  • To understand, in aggregate, which pages are useful, if you have accepted analytics cookies.

What we do not do

We do not sell personal information. We do not use enquiry details for advertising, and we do not add you to a mailing list you did not ask for.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of providers who process data on our behalf: Cloudflare for hosting and content delivery, Google for analytics (only with your consent), and our email provider for correspondence. If you become a customer, card payments run through Stripe on your own account, and we do not hold your customers’ card details.

Where it is stored

Enquiries are stored in our systems and in the inbox that receives them. Some of our providers are outside Canada, so information may be processed in another country, under the same safeguards wherever it is held.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry details for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and any follow-up, and for a reasonable period after that in case you come back to us. You can ask us to delete them at any time.

Your rights

  • Ask what personal information we hold about you, and get a copy.
  • Ask us to correct anything that is wrong.
  • Ask us to delete it, or withdraw your consent to our using it.
  • Ask for your information in a commonly used electronic format.
  • Complain about how we have handled it.

How to use them

Write to [email protected] and tell us what you would like us to do. We answer within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or, in Quebec, to the Commission d’accès à l’information.

Cookies

Analytics cookies stay off until you accept them. The cookie policy explains how to change your choice.

If this policy changes, this page is updated.
